Working With Governor DeSantis to Lead the Nation on Border Security
In 2025, Governor DeSantis and the Florida Legislature delivered the strongest crackdown on illegal immigration of any state in America. Kevin Steele stood with the Governor to make it law. Together, they:
- Made it a state crime to enter Florida illegally — so Florida law enforcement no longer has to wait on a broken federal system to act.
- Mandated the death penalty for illegal aliens convicted of capital crimes against Floridians.
- Ended catch-and-release by requiring illegal aliens charged with felonies to be held without bond.
- Forced full cooperation with ICE, requiring state and local agencies to partner with federal immigration enforcement and train under 287(g).
- Created the State Board of Immigration Enforcement to coordinate Florida’s deportation assistance across every level of government.
- Cut off the taxpayer-funded benefits that draw illegal immigration — ending taxpayer-subsidized perks and shutting down the magnets that reward breaking the law, backed by the nation’s strongest E-Verify mandate to dry up the illegal jobs pipeline.
Putting Florida Families First — Not Illegal Aliens
For a decade, illegal aliens in Florida got a sweetheart deal: discounted, taxpayer- subsidized in-state college tuition — while hardworking Florida families and out-of-state American students paid full price. Kevin Steele helped end it.
- Eliminated in-state tuition for illegal alien, so Floridians are no longer forced to bankroll discounted college degrees for people here illegally.
- Stopped illegal aliens from cutting the line ahead of Florida students for the limited, subsidized seats our families pay to support.
The principle is simple: every taxpayer-funded benefit and every subsidized university seat should go to a Floridian or a legal American — not to someone who broke our laws to get here.
Standing Up to Communist China and Foreign Adversaries
The threat to Florida doesn’t stop at the southern border. Communist China and other hostile regimes are working to buy our land, infiltrate our institutions, and influence our government. Kevin Steele voted to slam that door shut.
Kevin supported the Foreign Interference Restriction and Enforcement (FIRE) Act — sweeping legislation to combat foreign influence from China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, and Syria. The law:
- Bars state and local governments from contracting with or taking money from hostile foreign regimes and CCP-controlled entities.
- Prohibits public officials from accepting gifts or benefits from foreign countries of concern.
- Cracks down on the Chinese Communist Party’s reach into Florida’s institutions, land, and economy.

Keeping Foreign Nationals Out of Florida’s Government
Kevin Steele believes the people running Florida’s government should be American citizens — period. He voted to require U.S. citizenship and Florida residency for those appointed to state office, including department heads, commission members, and university trustees. No foreign nationals making decisions for Florida families.
A Warrior for Trump — A Partner to DeSantis
President Trump promised the largest deportation effort in American history. Florida didn’t sit on the sidelines — working with Governor DeSantis, Kevin Steele helped Florida become the model for how a state backs up the Trump administration.
